Keratsini: large crowd at Fyssas monument, 13 years after murder
A gathering and march took place in Keratsini for the 13th anniversary of the murder of Pavlos Fyssas by a member of Golden Dawn. Protesters called for Ilias Kassidiaris not to be released from prison.

A large number of citizens gathered on P. Fyssas Street in Keratsini on 18 September, exactly 13 years after the murder of anti-fascist artist by a member of the convicted criminal organisation Golden Dawn. According to tovima.gr, at the site of the murder were relatives, friends and people shaken by the crime of 18 September 2013.
From the monument, a march set out that traversed the narrow streets of the city. To facilitate the mobilisation, several central roads in Keratsini were closed to vehicle traffic. Strong police forces were deployed at scattered points in the area for security reasons, while traffic police took charge of regulating traffic.
Events since Thursday
The commemorative events had started on Thursday. A concert featuring well-known artists took place in the Keratsini Fertilisers multipurpose venue, dedicated to the memory of Fyssas.
Slogans against Kassidiaris
During the march, many protesters repeatedly chanted slogans against the release of Ilias Kassidiaris, a Golden Dawn member, declaring opposition to any revival of the far right in Greece.
The murder and the Golden Dawn trial
Pavlos Fyssas was stabbed on 18 September 2013 by a convicted member of Golden Dawn. The murder became the trigger for the dismantling of the organisation, which was judicially characterised as criminal. Subsequently, most of its leading members were arrested and imprisoned.
