Chalkidiki: Criminal prosecution for manslaughter by negligence against seven people over death of 19-year-old at Pefkohori
The Prosecutor of the Court of Appeals in Thessaloniki has ordered criminal prosecution for manslaughter by negligence through omission against seven individuals, including a former mayor, former deputy mayors and engineers, over the accident that led to the death of a 19-year-old at a theme park in Pefkohori, Chalkidiki.
According to ertnews.gr, the prosecutorial order is directed at the Prosecutor of the District Court of Chalkidiki and concerns seven individuals connected to the local authority and the technical services of the municipality.
The incident occurred at a theme park in the Pefkohori area, where the 19-year-old lost his life. The case came to light following a complaint filed by the victim's father, which had previously been filed away at an earlier stage.
The prosecutorial investigation focuses on the responsibilities that fall on administrative and technical officials for any omissions relating to the licensing, supervision and safety of the operation of the facility. The defendants are now called to account for the offence of manslaughter by negligence through omission, as they are alleged not to have taken the necessary action to prevent the fatal incident.
