The autopsy results of 43-year-old Stavroula Leventaki, who was found dead in Chania, reveal a horrific crime. According to reports from the Mega television station, the woman bore multiple injuries and signs of violent abuse.
Police have characterised the case as complex. The investigation began ten days after Leventaki had gone missing, after she had not travelled and her phone had gone dead at a specific location.
The head of Chania Police, Major Kanellos Sgouros, stated that the last camera to record her was located 83 metres from the house where she was murdered. At 18:20, movement was recorded with the suspect's vehicle, in which blood traces were found. The man is said to have transported the body to a rural area.
The accused attempted to clean the scene, but left blood traces behind. His confessions are consistent with the authorities' findings. He claims he gave bank cards to third parties for withdrawals after the crime.
Authorities have ruled out any involvement of the victim's brother. The motive remains confidential.
