A 42-year-old man has been arrested in Chania on suspicion of attacking his 35-year-old wife. The woman alleges she has suffered physical and verbal abuse since 2016.

Another domestic violence incident has been dealt with by authorities in Chania, resulting in the arrest of a 42-year-old man, according to information from ERT Chania.
The case concerns a 35-year-old woman who reported an attack by her husband on Wednesday, 9 June. According to her complaint, the incident occurred on 7 June, after midnight, when the 42-year-old attempted to have sexual relations with her against her will. When the woman resisted, the perpetrator beat her and threatened her.
The victim stated that she has been subjected to physical and verbal abuse by her husband since 2016, a fact indicating long-term abusive behaviour within their marriage.
During a search conducted at the couple's home in Keramia, Chania, police officers found six legally held carbines and weapon components.
The arrested man was taken to the prosecutor's office, whilst the investigation continues to clarify the case and evaluate all evidence.
