A total of three people were taken to a police station in Crete following police operations concerning separate incidents involving weapons, thefts and substances.

A 64-year-old man was arrested on 3 June 2026 in the morning upon entering the Chania Police Headquarters, where he had gone on a personal matter. During a check carried out with a metal detector and X-ray scanner, two folding knives were found on him. The sharp objects were confiscated. The preliminary investigation is being conducted by the competent crimes service in the area.

In another incident, two young Greek nationals — a 29-year-old man and a 20-year-old woman — were caught by bicycle officers from the Rapid Response Unit. The couple approached a shoe shop posing as customers. The man attempted to take shoes without paying, but the shop owner noticed him. When the owner tried to retrieve the goods, the perpetrator threatened him with a sharp object.

The investigation also revealed that the 29-year-old had attempted in the early morning of 2 June to remove products from a vending machine. Using a sharp tool, he caused damage of approximately 400 euros, but failed to extract anything.

Small quantities of cannabis and a grinder were found on the two young people. The authorities detained them and are investigating the case.
