A 52-year-old man was arrested at Heraklion's KTEL bus station after an unaccompanied package containing narcotics was discovered and linked to him. The operation by the prosecuting authorities took place at the intercity bus station premises.
The operation was carried out by officers from the General Police Directorate of the Crete Region, in cooperation with Heraklion's Central Harbour Authority. The success of the operation was attributed to information that had been made available to the authorities.
A significant role in the development of the case was played by the drug detection police dog named "STORM", who assisted in the detection of the illegal substances within the package.
The 52-year-old was taken to the competent prosecuting authority, whilst the preliminary investigation continues to determine the full extent of the case and any possible involvement of other persons.
