Two Greek men aged 84 and 45 were arrested at Chios port for cannabis possession. Authorities found over 410 grammes of raw cannabis in plastic packaging.

Chios: Two Greek nationals arrested for cannabis possession at port

Two men, aged 84 and 45 respectively, were arrested at Chios port for violating drug legislation. The operation was carried out by members of the Regional Drug Prosecution Team and the Security Bureau of the Central Port Authority of the island, in coordination with colleagues from Piraeus.

As announced by the Hellenic Coast Guard, upon the arrival of a passenger-cargo ship from Piraeus, the elderly man was found to be carrying over 410 grammes of raw cannabis in plastic packaging.

A search followed at the joint residence of the two men in Kalithea, Attica, where two glass containers with 109 grammes of cannabis fragments and a mobile phone were found.

Additionally, lawful searches were conducted at two other houses they used in Chios, in the presence of a prosecutor's representative.

The findings were seized and the two arrested individuals were brought before the prosecutor.
