The Directorate for Combating Organised Crime arrested six people in Mykonos for drug trafficking. The alleged ringleader is an Albanian owner of a tourist transport company. Also arrested were his partner and three Greeks.
Blow against drug network on the island of winds
Six people are in the hands of prosecuting authorities following an operation that took place in Mykonos on the morning of Wednesday, 24 June 2026. Officials from the Directorate for Combating Organised Crime (D.A.O.E.) succeeded in dismantling a criminal group involved in drug trafficking.
According to initial information, the alleged mastermind of the organisation is a man from Albania. He runs a van hire company for transporting visitors around the island and has previously come to the attention of authorities for similar offences. Also arrested were his partner, a Romanian national, and three Greeks. Among them, two worked as drivers for his company and one is said to have been his close associate.
The investigation was not limited to Mykonos. Police proceeded to bring in a woman in the capital, who is the wife of one of those arrested on the island. Her husband travelled to Mykonos every weekend. Quantities of banned substances were found and seized at her home in Athens.
During the investigations, hiding places containing significant quantities of narcotics were revealed. The authorities are expected to announce detailed information once laboratory tests are completed.
