Chase of stolen taxi in Kamatero — two minors in police custody

Two minors, aged 16 and 14, were arrested on 4 October in Kamatero following a chase of a stolen taxi, which struck a pole after police signalled it to stop. Investigations to locate the other two passengers are ongoing, according to Ethnos.

The taxi had been reported stolen earlier that day from Ilion. Police authorities launched a manhunt after locating the vehicle, which was carrying four people.

The chase

The stolen vehicle was spotted at the intersection of Neohoriu and Dendrohoriou streets in Kamatero. When police officers signalled the driver to stop, he accelerated instead of complying, resulting in a chase being initiated.

At the intersection of Zaimis and Pergamou streets, the driver lost control and the vehicle collided with a pole, coming to a stop at the scene. The four occupants opened the doors and fled, however two of them failed to escape.

Arrests and charges

The two arrested individuals were minors aged 16 and 14. A case file was drawn up against them for disobedience, theft in complicity and failure to produce identification.

Investigations to locate and arrest the other two perpetrators, who managed to escape, are continuing.
