Following the arrest of individuals responsible for the attack on the family home in Thessaloniki, the victim's daughter, Aphrodite Nestora, issued a personal statement online.
The attack resulted in the death of her mother, Vagia Nestora, whilst she herself remains hospitalised following burns. In her statement, the victim's daughter emphasised that terrorist acts cannot be tolerated in a democratic society. She also expressed hope that the judicial authorities would impose appropriate sanctions on those responsible.
Nestora stressed that her family does not seek revenge, but rather a fair trial. As she stated, this is what distinguishes the rule of law from the violent political action observed in the country. She also thanked the men and women of the Police for their actions that led to the arrests, as well as the Prime Minister for zero tolerance towards terrorism.
She expressed her gratitude towards Alexia Bakogiannis, who attended her mother's funeral, noting that only those who have lost a parent to a terrorist act understand the weight of this loss.
