In the village of Phoenikia in Heraklion, Crete, police arrested a man aged 58. His detention followed a report filed by the mother of two children, who alleged that the man entered her family home on Monday 29 June when she was absent.
According to local media, the 58-year-old was disturbed by the noise made by the children. This led to an assault against the family's eight-year-old son. The man allegedly struck the child in the face and attempted to deprive him of breath with a pillow.
The prosecutor brought charges against him for attempted murder and insult. His hearing is scheduled for Friday.
