An investigation by the Internal Affairs Service of the Greek Police has uncovered a gang of young people allegedly supplying students with narcotic substances in the northern suburbs of Athens.
According to the investigation's findings, members of the group used encrypted applications for communication. In their conversations they described in detail the quantities and characteristics of the substances they were selling. Transactions took place in public spaces, such as squares and bus stops, and in some cases inside school buildings.
In one of the recorded discussions, members of the group describe receiving a large quantity of narcotics from a parked car. In another conversation they refer to the quality of the substance they had obtained, noting that it was unprecedented for the conditions in the capital.
Among the nine people allegedly involved in the operation, seven were under the age of 18. Authorities believe that the leaders of the organisation attempted to maintain discipline and control through threats and physical violence. In video footage recorded in the Kifissia area, the alleged leader along with three other associates attacks two young men.
Particularly concerning are reports of substance distribution to students during the period of the Panhellenic examinations. In one conversation, one member states that his customers are sitting exams and are under pressure, with the other member asking whether he should provide them with more doses.
