Kypséli: Wednesday for statements on frozen infant – 38-year-old invokes psychiatric illness

Statements before the 30th investigating magistrate concerning the dead infant in Kypséli
On Wednesday at 10 a.m., the three arrested individuals in the case involving the frozen infant found inside a suitcase in an apartment in Kypséli will make statements before the 30th investigating magistrate, according to In.gr.
On Monday, 31 August, the three defendants were brought to the courthouse of the former Evelpidon school. Criminal proceedings were initiated against them for drug trafficking in the degree of a felony, as well as for failure to report the discovery of a dead body as a misdemeanour. The possible charge of manslaughter continues to be investigated.
Among the defendants is the 38-year-old German woman, who had initially told police that she was the mother of the dead infant. According to information from In.gr, the woman will give an oral statement and is expected to claim that she suffers from a serious psychiatric illness, whilst requesting at the same time that a psychiatric evaluation be carried out.
A significant role in her defence strategy will be played by the fact that she has been a drug user for years. Concerning the infant's death, she is expected to argue that during the critical period she did not understand what was happening due to the mental collapse caused to her by the loss of her child. Initial information indicates that the 38-year-old is in a poor psychological condition.
