Lamia: Two minors remanded in custody for series of thefts – 15-year-old accomplice sought
Two minors were remanded in custody in Lamia following a series of thefts, including a robbery at a nursery school. A third accomplice, aged 15, is being sought.

Remand in custody for two juvenile "pickpockets" in Lamia – Warrant issued for 15-year-old
Two minors were remanded in custody by the judicial authorities in Lamia following their statements before an examining magistrate and prosecutor. According to Newsit.gr, they are members of a juvenile gang that had become a "headache" for residents and business owners in the city.
The first defendant is a 16-year-old Roma boy who has been a fugitive from the Juvenile Reform Institution in Volos since 20 July 2026. The second is a minor of Albanian origin, under 18 years of age. Both were arrested on the morning of Thursday, 17 September 2026, by police officers from the Lamia Serious Crimes Prosecution and Investigation Unit with the assistance of the Anti-Drug Unit, in an apartment where they were living.
An arrest warrant has been issued for the third member of the gang, a 15-year-old Roma boy, who managed to escape and remains at large.
The charges
The case file includes conspiracy to form a gang, aggravated thefts committed in cooperation and with continuity, wanton damage to others' property, as well as violation of residence restrictions for the 16-year-old fugitive.
The investigation by the Lamia Security unit identified their actions in a series of incidents between 8 and 17 September 2026.
The nursery school theft
The first recorded crime was a theft at the 1st Nursery School of Lamia, at the intersection of Makropoulos and Ypsilantou streets. The perpetrators entered through an office window and snatched the director's bag, which contained personal documents, bank cards and cash. During a search of the apartment where they were arrested, police found the wallet with the cards and identity document of the victim, as well as a glass-breaking hammer.
Café till and motorcycle thefts
In the early hours of 17 September, taking advantage of a brief absence of staff during the closing of a café in a central square, they broke in and removed the till with the takings.
Shortly before, they had taken a motorcycle from its owner's house. Using a bank card found under the saddle, the 15-year-old who is being sought made a contactless transaction at a petrol station.
When police officers spotted all three of them on Papapostolou street riding the same motorcycle heading towards Roditsa, they accelerated, abandoned the vehicle in a field and fled on foot. In the possession of the older one was found and seized a key to another motorcycle, which had been stolen from Patroklos street and was later returned without its key.
Case file against the mothers
As part of the flagrante delicto proceedings, police formed a separate case file for child neglect against the mothers of the perpetrators. The 48-year-old mother of the 16-year-old was arrested and released following an order from the District Prosecutor. A corresponding case file was formed against the 47-year-old mother of the sought 15-year-old.
The investigations by the Lamia Serious Crimes Prosecution and Investigation Unit continue both to locate the 15-year-old and to establish any possible involvement of the group in dozens of other break-ins at shops and vehicles that have been recorded in Lamia and the wider area during the same period.
