Lamia: House owner comes face to face with three burglars inside his home
A man in Lamia experienced terrifying moments when he returned to his home and discovered that strangers had broken into it.
The incident took place on Friday afternoon last week, in a residence near the central Kapodistrian avenue. The owner had left the entrance unsecured for a short time. When he entered, he saw three people who had entered the premises and were attempting to steal valuables.
He and a friend who was nearby managed to immobilise a young woman. The other two, aged 24 and 19, fled. Found in the woman's possession were jewellery, gold items, coins and a watch, for which she could not provide convincing explanations.
Officers from the Immediate Action unit took charge of the arrested woman and handed her over to investigating officers in the area. On Monday she was brought before the Single-Member Emergency Court of Misdemeanours in Lamia, where she was found guilty of attempted theft and sentenced to twelve months deprivation of liberty, without suspension or conversion. She was not granted a suspensive effect on appeal.
Her 24-year-old accomplice is being sought for robbery. Prosecution authorities are continuing efforts to locate both fugitives.
