The Coast Guard conducted a series of checks and operations at various locations across Greece, resulting in the detection of irregular migrants and the arrest of a trafficker.
According to hcg.gr, 30 foreign nationals (29 men and one woman) were detected on the "Trypiti" beach in Gavdos. They were initially transported to an accommodation facility on the island and subsequently to the port of Hora Sfakion.
In a separate operation in the maritime area south of Gavdos, a patrol vessel spotted and rescued 47 people aboard a dinghy (37 men, 7 women, 3 children). The rescued persons were transported to the "Karave" port.
In the area of Loutras, authorities detected 44 foreign nationals. Among them was a 16-year-old from South Sudan, who was identified as the trafficker of the group. According to statements, the minor transported the migrants from Tobruk in Libya in exchange for financial remuneration. He was arrested for violations of legislation concerning illegal entry and facilitation.
In other incidents: a man was found dead in Thessaloniki. In Preveza, a fishing vessel was found half-submerged, with no injuries or pollution reported. In the same area, a 47-year-old was arrested for illegal possession of weapons. A pollution incident was recorded in Piraeus.
