A 14-year-old girl experienced terrifying moments yesterday evening at a well-known shopping centre in the Neratziótissa area of Marousi. A young man aged 19 followed her into the ladies' toilets and attacked her.
According to information cited by ERTnews, the incident occurred after 11 p.m. The perpetrator, originally from Egypt, immobilised the schoolgirl with physical force and attempted to force her to engage in a sexual act.
The minor managed to resist and free herself. As she left the building, she immediately sought help from patrolling officers of the DIAS unit who were in the area. She described the attacker in detail, allowing the officers to locate him quickly in the shopping centre's car park.
The 19-year-old was taken to Amarousion Security Department, where a case file was opened against him for attempted rape. He is expected to be brought before the prosecutor.
