Menidi: Pathologist and intact door undermine 62-year-old's account of mother's murder
The 62-year-old accused of murdering his 89-year-old mother in Menidi is being referred to the public prosecutor. Two pieces of evidence demolish his claim of a robbery.

Murder of 89-year-old in Menidi: Pathologist and intact door contradict the son
The 62-year-old accused of killing his 89-year-old mother in Menidi in the early hours of Monday was presented before the public prosecutor. According to Ethnos, he maintains that the elderly woman was murdered by robbers — an account that two critical pieces of evidence are set to overturn.
The 62-year-old told police that two unknown men broke into the house where he lived with his mother, forced their way through the door and immobilised him, before attacking the elderly woman and inflicting fatal blows. After they left, according to his account, he went out into the street around 01.00 and began shouting for help — a fact corroborated by neighbours.
The two pieces of evidence that undermine the robbery account
Police investigations yielded two conclusions that directly contradict the 62-year-old's statement.
The first concerns the door of the house: no signs of forced entry were found. If two individuals had genuinely broken in by force, visible marks would be expected at the point of entry.
The second and most decisive piece of evidence comes from the pathologist. According to his assessment, the 89-year-old was already dead by 18.00 in the evening — seven hours before the time her son went out into the street shouting for help. The time of death directly contradicts the timeline he himself described.
Marks of resistance and contradictions in the statement
Inside the house, only the room where the elderly woman was found dead was in disarray. The disorder is attributed by the authorities to her attempts to resist and to the physical struggle between perpetrator and victim.
The 89-year-old bore bruises and scratches, whilst her death resulted from asphyxiation. The 62-year-old, who had previously come to the attention of the authorities in drug-related cases, contradicted himself during the course of his interrogation.
