A 21-year-old Greek was arrested in Mytilene for violating the drugs law. The young man had ordered cannabis through a courier company, which was detected by authorities before it reached his hands.
According to an announcement by the Hellenic Coast Guard, the case began on 9 March when officers from the Regional Drug Prosecution Group of the Mytilene Port Authority received information. With the help of trained dog "RANTO", they located a suspicious package at a courier store.
On 11 March, three people appeared to collect the package. One of them took the parcel, but when authorities attempted to stop him, he threw it down and ran off. The other two also escaped.
Inside the packaging, 535.66 grammes of cannabis plant extracts were found. Following an investigation in cooperation with the Lesbos Police Directorate, authorities located the recipient outside his home and arrested him.
The 21-year-old was taken before the prosecutor.
