An investigation is being conducted into financial details connected to the murder of a 45-year-old woman on the island. The woman had received €50,000 from the sale of property shortly before her death. This money was not found with her parents, despite reports that the unfortunate woman intended to give it to them to address health problems resulting from their advanced age.
Instead of the €50,000, police officers who inspected the container where the 43-year-old had buried the victim found smaller amounts. Specifically, €5,000 and €9,135 were discovered in separate locations within the space. Officials are examining three different possibilities regarding the fate of the money.
The first theory is that the suspect stole the money either before or after the crime. The second scenario suggests that he had taken out a loan from the woman. The third possibility is that he persuaded her to give it to him in some way.
A forensic examination conducted on Monday showed that the cause of death was severe head trauma. Experts believe the fatal blows were inflicted with a wooden object used by the perpetrator. Additionally, two superficial blade wounds to the chest were found, though these were not related to the death.
Security camera footage from a neighbouring property shows the woman a short time before the fatal incident. In the footage she appears to walk calmly towards the 43-year-old's house, carrying bags in her hands, showing no apparent anxiety about what was about to occur.
