A 25-year-old woman was found dead from a knife wound in Igoumenitsa on Sunday evening. Her 27-year-old partner, who had called police, was found in nearby vegetation with no apparent injuries.

A 25-year-old woman was found dead from knife wounds on a cycle path in Igoumenitsa on the evening of Sunday 20 September, according to Newsit.gr.
Police mobilised following a call from the woman's 27-year-old partner, who reported that both he and his partner had been attacked with a knife and that his partner had lost her life. When police officers arrived at the scene, they found the young woman dead with wounds estimated to have been caused by a knife.
Shortly afterwards, the 27-year-old was found nearby in dense vegetation. He claimed he had also been attacked, however upon initial examination by police officers no apparent external injuries were identified.
The man was taken for first aid and was subsequently expected to be taken to the Police Department for questioning as part of the investigation into the circumstances of the 25-year-old's death.
A coroner was expected to attend the scene to conduct the initial examination of the body. Authorities are investigating the exact circumstances of the critical hours preceding the young woman's death.
