Arson attacks on the homes of three Greek politicians in Thessaloniki resulted in the death of one politician's mother. The politicians belong to New Democracy.
Politician's mother dies after arson attacks in Thessaloniki
Multiple arson attacks on the residences of Greek politicians in Thessaloniki took place in the early hours of Wednesday. The victims of the attacks are three politicians belonging to the ruling party New Democracy.
According to assessments, improvised Molotov cocktails exploded at intervals of several minutes outside three different apartment buildings. Several people were injured in the explosions.
Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis announced on Wednesday evening that the mother of one of the politicians succumbed to her injuries. In a statement, Mitsotakis emphasised that this death "confirms the murderous and inhumane nature of the blind violence being expressed in public spaces".
