Dead infant in Kypseli: More than ten stab wounds to the back – shocking statement by 43-year-old
More than ten knife wounds to the back were revealed by forensic examination of the frozen infant discovered in Kypseli. The 43-year-old claims they "gave them the wrong baby" and that "the house became calm" after its death.
Frozen infant in Kypseli: autopsy findings and shocking claims by 43-year-old
More than ten knife wounds of different dimensions were found on the back of the frozen infant discovered in luggage belonging to a couple in a flat in Kypseli. This is reported by ERT, citing the results of a forensic examination that contradicts the claims of the arrested 43-year-old.
The 43-year-old had told authorities that the infant died from pathological causes. The forensic pathologist's findings stand in direct contradiction to this account.
Precise determination of death impossible
The forensic pathologist was unable to determine precisely either the age of the infant or the time of death. The prolonged freezing of the body played a decisive role in this, which according to the 43-year-old's statement had lasted at least two years.
"Wrong baby" from the maternity hospital
According to what the 43-year-old allegedly told police, the infant had been born in a maternity hospital in Athens. He claimed that when leaving the maternity hospital he was given a different child — he spoke of a "wrong baby". According to his claim, this child remained with the family and later died from pathological causes.
Rather than informing the authorities or arranging for the infant's burial, the 43-year-old allegedly placed the body in the freezer. He explained to police that he feared that revealing the death would lead to the removal of his other children from the family.
"The house became calm"
Particularly shocking is the description attributed to the 43-year-old of the atmosphere in the house while the infant was alive. He allegedly stated that the infant cried constantly and that this caused his wife great psychological pressure. Moreover, he allegedly described the "wrong baby" as "demonic" — a claim attributed exclusively to the 43-year-old and does not constitute an established fact. After the infant's death, according to his statement, the situation in the house changed, with him describing that the house "became calm".
Contradictions and DNA
A critical point for the judicial investigation is the hearing before the examining magistrate on Wednesday — both of the 43-year-old and of his 38-year-old German wife and the 26-year-old Afghan arrested with them. Their statements have presented, to date, significant contradictions.
The 38-year-old has stated that the dead infant was hers, whilst the 26-year-old Afghan states he is the father of the child being carried by the family's 15-year-old daughter. The exact biological relationships are expected to be determined by the results of DNA testing, which are considered decisive for the development of the case.
Three minor children in Children's Hospital
The three minor children — aged 9, 11 and 15 years — remain hospitalised at the Children's Hospital. The two boys, aged 9 and 12 years, underwent forensic examination, from which no findings emerged suggesting sexual abuse. However, according to ERT information, this does not rule out the possibility that such incidents may have occurred in the past.
All three children are expected to be examined by child psychologists and child psychiatrists in order to assess their psychological condition and investigate potential traumatic experiences.
According to reports, two of the three children — the 15-year-old and the 9-year-old — have been diagnosed with a sexually transmitted infection and are receiving treatment. The 15-year-old is also allegedly pregnant, with the 26-year-old Afghan being referred to as the alleged father of the unborn child.
Unlawful removal from hospital a year ago
A particular point of interest is an incident from the family's recent past. According to information cited by ERT, approximately one year ago the children had been transferred to the Children's Hospital following a prosecutor's order. The father allegedly unlawfully removed them from the hospital and returned them to the flat. This fact is being re-examined by the authorities, as it raises serious questions about the children's living conditions during this period.
