A judicial council in Patras has decided to refer to trial a 25-year-old woman accused of the deaths of three babies and the attempted murder of her former partner. The case will be tried in a higher court with a jury composition.

The same woman had also been accused of another infant death, but this offence can no longer be tried due to the statute of limitations. The crimes to be judged concern events from 2020 onwards.

The prosecutor who handled the case describes the accused as an exceptionally dangerous individual. The judicial document states that the young woman had organised behaviour, used violent methods and showed no sign of remorse for her actions.

According to the indictment, the victims she selected were always small children who could not resist. The judicial authorities assess that the choice of these victims was related to the accused's need to exercise control and feel dominance.

The judicial council rejected the defence's claim of diminished mental capacity to understand her actions. The judges ruled that the accused had full awareness of her actions.

Of particular interest is the prosecutor's reference to an incident in 2014. At that time, the accused's younger sister died. Although this incident can no longer be investigated judicially, the prosecutor believes it was the catalyst for the subsequent criminal behaviour of the 25-year-old. The ruling states that the accused had taken her sister's life already during her teenage years.

The judicial document speaks of an unstable family environment during the accused's childhood, with frequent relocations. However, this is not presented as a justification, but rather as the context within which the young woman developed from an early age manipulative tactics and false narratives that she later used to fulfil her criminal desires.
