Five people were arrested on Friday evening in Kifissia, Attica, during an operation conducted by the Attica Traffic Police Directorate and GADA against the unlawful occupation of public spaces for parking customers of establishments, according to the Newspaper of Editors.
According to the police, three of the arrested individuals – aged 23, 24 and 36 – received vehicles from customers, gave them numbered vouchers and placed corresponding coupons on the windscreen, then parked them on roads and pavements. Upon departure, drivers paid a fee without any tax receipt being issued.
The other two arrested individuals were temporary managers of the establishments. The checks were carried out by the Traffic Accident Control and Prevention Teams (O.E.P.T.A.).
The case file from the 1st Traffic Police Department of North-Eastern Attica was forwarded to the competent prosecutor. According to a police announcement, similar operations will continue with undiminished intensity.
