Patras: Arrest of Fugitive and 20-year-old in Operation at Riganokaмpou Roma Settlement

Two arrests were made on the morning of Monday, 5 October at a Roma settlement in Patras. Among those arrested was a 35-year-old fugitive from Kassaveteion Prison.

Police operation in Riganoкampo: two arrests at Roma settlement

Officers from Patras Security conducted a raid on the morning of Monday, 5 October at the Roma settlement in Riganoкampo, resulting in two arrests. Newsit.gr reports that among those arrested is a 35-year-old Patras resident who was wanted as a fugitive.

The 35-year-old had been convicted and was serving a sentence at Kassaveteion Prison. Although he had been granted leave from the correctional facility, he did not return after the expiry of his leave, resulting in him being placed under search by the authorities.

During the same operation, a 20-year-old Roma was also arrested, who is allegedly involved in a criminal organisation together with two other individuals. According to evidence from the police investigation, the group is alleged to have committed dozens of thefts from residences in Patras and the wider area over recent months.

At the same time, the authorities are examining possible involvement of the group in a robbery case, as well as in an incident of vehicle arson. The investigation into the full clarification of the criminal activity is ongoing.

The two arrestees are expected to be brought before the competent judicial authorities.
