During targeted operations carried out in areas of Achaia and Ilia, the prosecuting authorities proceeded with five arrests for violations of legislation concerning weapons, drugs, flares and fireworks.
During the investigations carried out, officers located and seized a large quantity of illegal weapons and other items. Specifically, a carbine, shotgun and knives were found, as well as quantities of narcotic substances. Additionally, flares and materials related to fireworks were discovered.
Among the five arrested is a member of the Armed Forces, a fact that has caused particular attention. Cases have been prepared against all those brought in.
The checks form part of a broader programme for the prevention and suppression of crime in the wider region of Western Greece.
