A fully equipped hydroponic cannabis cultivation laboratory was discovered by officers from the Drug Enforcement Subdivision of the Organised Crime Directorate in Peristeri. Authorities proceeded with the arrest of two Greek nationals, aged 47 and 50.

The two men are alleged to have jointly set up a plant cultivation facility using the hydroponic method in a ground-floor space. The premises was equipped with specialised lighting, ventilation and an environmental control system, creating artificial growth conditions.

During the raid, officers found and seized 59 cannabis seedlings, ranging in height from 25 to 160 centimetres. Additionally, more than 5.5 kilograms of cannabis were discovered, over 7 kilograms of clones, as well as plant matter and fresh leaves.

Later, in searches conducted at the homes of the arrested individuals in areas of Athens, quantities of raw cannabis, processed form (chocolate), plant extract residues, cocaine and narcotic tablets were found. Authorities also seized an airgun with a magazine.

The 47-year-old has repeatedly come to the attention of prosecutors for similar offences in the past. The arrested individuals were taken before the competent prosecutorial authority.
