A 55-year-old man, a permanent resident of Rhodes, was presented this afternoon before the island's public prosecutor's office, facing serious charges. According to evidence gathered, he allegedly attacked a 63-year-old acquaintance yesterday evening, at approximately 8 pm, using a sharp object. The victim succumbed to his injuries a short time later.
The prosecutor handling the case brought criminal charges against the perpetrator for intentional homicide. Subsequently, the suspect was brought before the investigating magistrate, requesting and obtaining a postponement to testify on 11 June, Thursday.
The motives that provoked the fatal incident have not yet been clarified. The prosecuting authorities are continuing the preliminary investigation in order to clarify the circumstances under which the incident took place.
