A 43-year-old man, accused of deliberately killing a 45-year-old woman, was transported to the Chania courts under strict security measures. He admitted his guilt and asked for forgiveness from the relatives of the deceased woman, according to a television channel.
The suspect is also charged with illegal burial and violations of weapons legislation. Upon entering the courthouse, he wore a bulletproof vest and kept his gaze lowered, without speaking to anyone. His appearance provoked reactions from a crowd that had gathered outside the building.
In parallel, relatives of the deceased took legal action against the accused man's wife. According to the relatives of the 45-year-old, the wife made public statements that defame the memory of the unfortunate woman, claiming that her partner had no involvement whatsoever. These statements angered the family, which decided to resort to justice.
The defence counsel argues that the death resulted from an intense argument and was unintentional manslaughter. The judicial authorities will evaluate all evidence, testimonies, and findings from the investigation.
At the same time, new information about the final moments of the 45-year-old came to light through video footage published on a website. In the visual material, dated 30 May, the unfortunate woman can be seen walking on foot towards her home in Varyetro, carrying shopping bags. The footage captures her for approximately one minute, at a distance of 80 metres, until she leaves the field of view. In other material, a small van appears with which, according to the authorities, the 43-year-old transported the body. Blood traces were found inside the vehicle.
