Photographic evidence leads to arrest in Chania murder case
Confidential photographic material reveals new details about the murder of 45-year-old Stavroula Leventaki in Chania, according to information from TA NEA.
The material gathered by the prosecution authorities consists of images depicting a blue van. Inside it, blood traces belonging to the murdered woman were found. Other images show a container on a plot of land belonging to the 43-year-old suspect, where the woman's body was discovered buried. Additionally, there are photographs showing large sums of money, as well as the apartment in Chania where laboratory tests confirmed traces of blood from the victim.
The 43-year-old had attempted to delete the material from the cameras. Nevertheless, investigators managed to recover it. The images, along with the inconsistencies he presented in his statements, helped to dismantle the false scenario he had constructed over 22 days.
On the same day, relatives and friends of Stavroula Leventaki bid her farewell in Varypetro, Chania. The funeral service was held at the Church of the Transfiguration of the Saviour. Her brother, Yiannis, along with relatives and friends, were present in a heavy atmosphere. Her coffin was taken to her final resting place, accompanied by white flowers.
For her loved ones, the void left by her loss remains unresolved.
