A Larissa court imposed a total custodial sentence of 22 months on a 50-year-old man who unlawfully held his ex-wife hostage, threatening her with an axe.
During the hearing, the prosecutor deemed the defendant a danger to social coexistence and proposed that part of the imposed sentence be served immediately. Ultimately, the court decided that the 50-year-old would be sent to prison for two months.
The case concerns another instance of domestic violence, in which the defendant is alleged to have used extreme violence and psychological coercion against his ex-wife, detaining her against her will and threatening her with a lethal weapon.
The authorities proceeded to arrest the perpetrator and refer him to the courts. The court's decision includes immediate imprisonment of the defendant for a specific period of time, whilst the remainder of the sentence is suspended.
