According to megatv.com, the investigating magistrate and prosecutor have decided on the remand in custody of five individuals in connection with a fraud case against e-EFKA.
Among them are the president of LA.O.S. and television presenter Filippos Kampouris and his wife, who are alleged to have had a central role in the scheme. The decision was made following their testimony.
The damage attributed to the scheme's actions against e-EFKA is estimated at 1.5 million euros, whilst the total financial loss to public funds is calculated at approximately 5 million euros.
Apart from the Kampouris couple, three other defendants are remanded in custody: a 54-year-old accountant and a couple who, according to the indictment, allegedly operated as a front person in the television presenter's business activities.
In parallel, the detention of another woman was decided, against whom a European arrest warrant is pending for a separate case.
The remaining five defendants were released following their testimony, with the agreement of the investigating magistrate and prosecutor. Restrictive conditions were imposed on some, which include a ban on leaving the country, mandatory regular attendance at a police station and financial bail ranging from 4,000 to 8,000 euros.
