Kalashnikov gunfire in Agios Panteleimon: ELSA condemns Chrysochoidis
A ten-year-old girl was wounded in the foot by stray gunfire in Agios Panteleimon. ELSA exercises harsh criticism against the Minister of Citizen Protection.
Gunfire two blocks from police station — 10-year-old wounded
According to In.gr, Kalashnikov gunfire was reported on Friday evening in the Agios Panteleimon area in Athens. From shots fired by unknown perpetrators, a 10-year-old girl was wounded in the foot and was immediately transferred to hospital for first aid.
Marinos Skandamis, the Citizen Protection sector chief of the Greek Left Alliance (ELSA), noted that the incident occurred "at a distance of just two blocks from the Agios Panteleimon Police Station" and levelled sharp criticism at the leadership of the Ministry of Citizen Protection.
"Before the ink from our announcements about how organised crime runs the prisons of our country — and now openly threatens state officials, judicial functionaries, journalists, businessmen but also every ordinary citizen — dried, came the gunfire that wounded an innocent child," Skandamis stated.
Directing his fire directly at Minister Michalis Chrysochoidis, Skandamis concluded: "Mr Chrysochoidis, citizen security is in danger. Let your ministry finally function, at least for as long as you remain in government…"
The perpetrators remain unknown, whilst the authorities are investigating the incident.
