Shootings in the Municipality of Epidaurus over property disputes
Two men were taken before the courts in Nafplio today in connection with shootings that occurred on the afternoon of 1 February 2025 in a rural mountainous area of Argolida. The incident was reported by Newsit.gr.
The episode unfolded near the small church of Panagia Chrysospiliotissa, in the Municipality of Epidaurus. According to information relayed by argolikeseidhseis.gr, the motive was longstanding property and land disputes between the two relatives.
When the 49-year-old victim arrived at the location, the 64-year-old perpetrator spotted him and shot him with a hunting rifle — initially in the face while the 49-year-old was inside his car, and subsequently in the hand and leg.
After the injured man called for help, the 64-year-old transported him to the main road, notified an EKAB station, and then fled. The perpetrator's 39-year-old son also passed by the scene, witnessing the injured man without offering assistance.
Due to the severity of his condition — with doctors fighting to save his sight — the 49-year-old was urgently transferred to a hospital in Athens, where he is currently being treated.
The 64-year-old was arrested that evening in a local community of the Municipality of Nafplio, following a search by police officers from the Nafplio Crimes Investigation and Prosecution Sub-Directorate, with assistance from officers of the Epidaurus Police Station and the Argos–Mycenae Policing Sub-Directorate.
According to an official announcement by the Greek Police, the 39-year-old son of the perpetrator was also arrested for the offence of failing to provide assistance to the victim. The preliminary investigation is being conducted by the Nafplio Crimes Investigation and Prosecution Sub-Directorate.
