Police arrested a 53-year-old woman in Rethymno following a report of indiscriminate gunfire during a social event. The property owner refused to reveal the identities of those who opened fire.

On the afternoon of Saturday 27 June, police forces in Rethymno intervened at a residence in the Episcopi area following a report of indiscriminate shots fired near a social event that was taking place.

During an inspection of the surrounding area of the residence, authorities discovered four cartridge casings from a firearm, which had been discarded a short distance from the building. The gunfire reportedly occurred during the celebration, causing concern among those present.

When the 53-year-old property owner was called upon by police to identify the individuals who had fired the shots, she refused to provide any information. As a result, authorities arrested her for harbouring a criminal.

The preliminary investigation into the incident is being conducted by the Rethymno Police Directorate, whilst investigations continue to identify and apprehend the individuals responsible for the gunfire.
