Samos: Five arrests at port over forged passports and drugs
The Security Office of Samos Port Authority made five arrests during checks at the port over forged travel documents and drug possession.
Five arrests in Samos Port Authority checks
The Security Office of Samos Port Authority made a series of arrests during inspections at the port, according to ERT. The violations involved the use of forged travel documents and possession of narcotic substances.
A Syrian national was initially arrested who, according to the authorities, travelled from Thessaloniki to Samos by ship and handed over a forged identity document to a Turkish national. The latter was residing illegally on the island and had not been registered by the competent authorities.
In a separate case, Security Office personnel arrested an Iranian national who allegedly attempted to travel by line ship bound for Athens using a forged passport.
As part of the same checks, two Afghan nationals were also arrested who, according to port authorities, were in possession of forged Norwegian passports and also attempted to depart from Samos bound for Athens.
During checks aboard the ship, a German national was also arrested for possession of narcotic substances.
For all cases, the prescribed procedures were followed and the detained individuals were taken to the competent authorities.
