A large-scale police operation took place in the Chania Regional Unit, with a total of 62 detentions and 14 final arrests. The operation focused on areas where temporary encampments had been established, including Chrysi Akti, Agioi Apostoloi, Honolulu, and the Nerokouro district.
According to information reported by ertnews.gr, a total of 14 individuals were arrested, of whom seven had not reached the age of 18.
The offences for which individuals were detained vary. The majority — eight people — are charged with failure to produce a police identification document. Five persons were arrested for neglecting to supervise minors. One individual faces more serious charges, as he is alleged to have committed acts of violence against public officials and caused the disruption of public service operations.
Additionally, two violations of road traffic regulations were recorded.
The aforementioned operation is part of a broader plan being implemented in Crete during the summer months. The objectives are to combat illegal conduct, strengthen police presence, deter criminal activity, and ensure the safety of residents and visitors to the island.
