A 59-year-old man was referred to Thessaloniki courts accused of six arson attacks in the Sindos area, according to Ta Nea. The man was arrested on Wednesday after security camera footage from a business recorded him exiting his car, approaching an area of dense vegetation, and leaving shortly before a fire broke out.
The investigation revealed that he used paper napkins as kindling, which he set alight before leaving the location. By analysing his modus operandi, authorities connected the 59-year-old to five additional arson cases in the broader area.
During his statement, the defendant apologised, claiming that he had become tired from his work. Today he is reportedly expressing remorse for his actions.
