A new cybercrime scam via SMS is appearing as a message from gov.gr concerning a traffic violation. Greek Police are urging citizens not to click on links.

Scammers send fake SMS messages about traffic violations purportedly from gov.gr
According to In.gr, Greek Police are warning citizens of a new scam via SMS, in which messages appear to be sent from gov.gr and claim to concern a traffic violation or fine.
Police announced through a social media post that the scam is currently in operation. The messages are accompanied by a link which leads to a fake website, where the vehicle number plate and bank card details are requested.
The scammers' objective is for the recipient to click on the link, so that their personal or bank data can be stolen. The fake page has been designed to look authentic and mislead the user.
Greek Police are emphatic: "Do not click links in SMS — gov.gr will NEVER send you a link". Citizens are urged to visit the official website themselves directly for any check or payment, without using links received via text messages.
