Gang robbed pedestrians of chains in Maroussi and Kifissia – Two arrested
Two young men aged 17 and 19 were arrested for six robberies in Kifissia and Maroussi. A third member of the group is being sought.
Arrests for chain robberies in Kifissia and Maroussi
Two young men, aged 17 and 19, were arrested by police as members of a criminal gang that violently robbed pedestrians of chains around their necks in Kifissia and Maroussi, according to Newsit.gr.
The case was uncovered on the evening of 23 September, when officers patrolling in Kifissia spotted the two young men and considered them suspicious. During the check, they refused to comply with the authorities' instructions and were taken to the Crime Investigation and Prosecution Department of Kifissia.
From the investigation that followed, it emerged that the two defendants are suspected of having formed a group for the purpose of obtaining illegal income through robberies. Their main target was the violent theft of jewellery and chains from citizens on the street.
To date, the authorities have resolved six robbery cases attributed to the group. Charges have been filed against the two arrested individuals for participation in a criminal group, repeated robbery, and disobedience.
In parallel, the authorities have identified a third person who is suspected of having participated in the group, who is being sought. The two arrested individuals were brought before the competent prosecuting authority.
