28-year-old Turkish national referred to prosecutor for murder of compatriot in Exarcheia
An investigating magistrate referred to trial a 28-year-old Turkish national accused of manslaughter of his 25-year-old compatriot in the Exarcheia area. The alleged perpetrator had illegally crossed the border three to four days before the incident.
The findings of the investigation show that the 28-year-old was recruited by a criminal group based in Turkey to execute the victim. They gave him a photograph of the target without informing him of the motive. The fee that had been agreed amounted to one million Turkish lire, an amount he would receive upon returning to his country.
The body of the 25-year-old was found at a busy location in Exarcheia, at the intersection of Kallidromio and Emmanuel Benaki streets. The victim had multiple gunshot wounds to the head.
