A 17-year-old of Egyptian origin was arrested by the DIAS unit following an attempted theft of a gold chain from a 42-year-old woman. A peer who was carrying a blade was also arrested with him.

Arrest of minor for attempted robbery in Agios Panteleimon

Police officers from the DIAS unit arrested a 17-year-old of Egyptian origin yesterday afternoon, who attempted to steal a gold chain from a 42-year-old woman in the Agios Panteleimon area, according to In.gr.

According to police, on the morning of the same day the minor approached the woman while she was walking in the area and used force in an attempt to remove the jewellery from her neck.

The 42-year-old called emergency services. Police officers located the perpetrator following searches in the area, immobilised him and took him to the Prosecution and Investigation of Crimes Department of Agios Panteleimon.

With the 17-year-old was another peer of his, in whose possession a blade was found. Both were arrested.

A case file was opened against the first for attempted robbery, whilst the second faces charges of violation of weapons legislation. The arrested individuals were brought before the competent Prosecutor.
