24-year-old arrested on Milos with 142 drug packages
A 24-year-old man fell into the hands of prosecuting authorities early this morning on Milos, accused of drug trafficking. The operation was organised by the local Police Department as part of efforts to curb distribution in the tourist destination.
Police located him shortly after his disembarkation on the island and subjected him to a thorough search. The young man attempted to avoid arrest, resisting the officers firmly, but nevertheless failed to escape.
A search of his home followed, during which authorities located and seized 104 makeshift packets of white powder (total weight 117.7 grams), 38 packages of dried cannabis (412 grams), a minimal quantity of pink-coloured substance, a digital precision scale, 310 euros in cash believed to originate from illegal activity, and two mobile phones.
A case file was prepared against the 24-year-old for drug trafficking and resisting authorities. The arrested man will be brought before the judicial authorities of Syros. The Greek Police note that the case falls within the broader framework of special operations by services in the Southern Aegean to combat drug trafficking.
