A 26-year-old driver was arrested in the Peuki area of Thessaloniki while driving at excessive speed, under the influence of alcohol and without a valid driving licence.

A young driver aged 26 was apprehended by police in the Peuki area of Thessaloniki following a check by traffic authorities.
The man, who is originally from Albania, was observed driving a car at a speed of 128 km/h, whilst the speed limit at that specific location is 50 km/h. When traffic police officers ordered him to stop the vehicle, he ignored the signal and continued driving.
From the subsequent check it emerged that the 26-year-old was in a state of intoxication. Furthermore, he did not possess a driving licence, which had been previously suspended due to a speeding violation. The vehicle he was using had no number plates, no silencer on the exhaust pipe, nor insurance cover.
A case file was opened against him and he was issued with a fine exceeding €2,000.
