Police officers from the Department for Crimes Against Life arrested a 28-year-old from Turkey, who is accused of the murder of a 25-year-old compatriot in the early morning of 13 June 2026, on a street in Exarchia. The victim was found seriously injured and died shortly afterwards.

During interrogation, the arrested man allegedly claimed that he is a member of the well-known gang "Daltons" and that he had travelled to the country to carry out a "death contract" in exchange for a sum of €20,000. Officers are investigating from the outset the possibility that the perpetrator had been hired from abroad as a professional hitman.

After the crime, the 28-year-old remained in short-term rental accommodation and was preparing his escape to Turkey. The timely intervention of the prosecuting authorities prevented his flight. He will appear before the judicial authorities next Tuesday. The preliminary investigation is ongoing.
