Police officers from the Zakynthos Police Directorate arrested a 30-year-old foreign national in Lagana as part of checks to combat the trafficking of narcotics.
During the inspection, the initial authorities identified and seized quantities of cocaine and unprocessed cannabis in the suspect's possession, as well as a sum of cash. The drugs were packaged for the purpose of trafficking.
This is the third arrest in four days for a similar case in the area, a fact that demonstrates the intensification of police checks on the island during the tourist season.
The arrested man was taken before the Misdemeanour Prosecutor of Zakynthos, whilst the police investigation continues to determine whether the 30-year-old had accomplices and the scope of his activities.
