A 30-year-old foreign national was arrested in Mykonos by local police officers on charges of drug trafficking and illegal residence in the country. The search uncovered cocaine, ketamine, cannabis and psychotropic mushrooms, whilst the man had a pending warrant from Italian authorities.

A 30-year-old foreign national was arrested yesterday in Mykonos by local police officers. The man faces charges of drug trafficking and violation of rules governing entry and residence of foreigners in the country. He also had a pending European arrest warrant issued by Italian authorities for smuggling.

The arrest was made following the exploitation of information concerning his activities on the island. According to the authorities, the 30-year-old used his car to meet with clients, during which he exchanged packages of substances in exchange for money.

Officers located his residence and a space he used as a hideout. Searches conducted at the residence, in this space, in the vehicle and in his possession found and seized:

The authorities estimate that the illegal profits from his activities would have exceeded €45,000.

Beyond the Italian warrant, he also had an entry and residence ban in the Schengen zone issued by German authorities.

The arrested man was brought before the prosecutor, whilst the substances that were seized will be examined by the Chemical Service.
