Port police arrested a 31-year-old man aboard a passenger-vehicle carrier in Piraeus and seized over 415 grams of cocaine and two military cartridges from his home.

Officials from the Security Division of the Central Port Authority of Piraeus arrested a 31-year-old man and seized over 415 grams of cocaine following a targeted inspection at the main passenger port, according to Newsbeast.
The operation involved personnel from the Security Office and the Regional Narcotics Prosecution Squad (PODIN) of the Central Port Authority of Piraeus, with the assistance of a specially trained drug detection dog.
The 31-year-old was located and checked aboard a passenger-vehicle carrier ship. During the inspection, a nylon package containing cocaine in "rock" form was found, with a total gross weight of 415 grams, as well as a second package containing 0.5 grams of cocaine. A mobile telephone was also seized.
The investigation continued outside the port. As part of the preliminary inquiry, a lawful search was conducted with the presence of a judicial officer at the suspect's residence in Athens, where two military cartridges with a diameter of 7.62 millimetres were found and seized.
The arrested man faces charges for violations of narcotics and weapons legislation. The preliminary inquiry is being conducted by the Central Port Authority of Piraeus.
The seized narcotic substances are to be sent to the General Chemical State Laboratory for examination, whilst the cartridges will be forwarded to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations for laboratory testing.
