Arrest for four-year-old murder: mutilated body in Thessaloniki waters

According to ERT, a 35-year-old Pakistani man was arrested on suspicion of involvement in the murder of a 24-year-old compatriot, whose body had been recovered in June 2022 from the sea area between Kalochori and Chalastras in Thessaloniki.

The victim's body was found half-submerged, without a head and lower limbs — conditions that significantly hampered both identification and the investigation. Ultimately, identification became possible through fingerprints and laboratory analysis.

An arrest warrant against the accused had been issued by the investigating magistrate handling the case. The 35-year-old was taken to the Public Prosecutor's Office of the Court of First Instance in Thessaloniki for execution of the warrant.

Judicial sources report that a total of four individuals, all of Pakistani origin, appear to be involved in the case.
